Going on a vacation or leaving your home for long periods of time is okay as long as you made considerable steps to secure your home from possible burglars or thieves, or any disaster such as fire.

But since your neighbor might not be available to watch over your property 24 hours a day, you have to make sure your house still looks occupied by asking someone to pick up anything that is delivered into your doorsteps or have somebody turn on and off the lights of your house. Or you may prefer to install a system that turns on the lights, television or radio at certain times of the day.

When you are about to go out of the house, don’t ever forget to lock your doors and windows. If an alarm system has been installed in your house, turn it on.

To avoid accidents such as fire, electrical shortage or flooding within your house, turn off all electrical equipment, water faucets and other appliances such as airconditioner and electric fans.
