Home Security Information

Living under a Secure environment

Almost all people surely dream of living in a comfortable and secured home, away from any danger or possible burglars.

Since home security is one important aspect of having that dream realized, homeowners must be knowledgeable enough in having their homes secured.

One important thing to do is to avoid letting anyone enter into your home without checking his or her identity. Some criminals are so clever that they would do anything just to get into your house and steal your belongings, such as identifying themselves as repairmen or new neighbors. To avoid this, ask for their identification or you can call the company they allegedly represent.

Home Security 101

One of the characters in the books of political thriller author Tom Clancy once said, "A good security system is to not have any security system at all." The character was referring to not installing any security system in his own residence. But I'm sure the skepticism in most of us will disagree. Most of us will feel assured even if we have just the most minimal kind of security system installed in our homes.

Also known as alarm systems, home security systems are classified into different kinds. The simplest one is the alarm that is wired to your electrical circuit. It is usually installed at the gates or at the windows of your home. Electrical circuit-triggered alarms are in turn divided into two: the open-circuit and the closed-circuit alarm. In the case of the former, the circuit is completed triggered by let's say opening the door where the alarm is installed for instance. On the other hand, the process for the closed-circuit alarm is the opposite.

Home Security and Homeland Security Equally Important

Survey of Crime Prevention Experts Reveals Future Concerns

WASHINGTON, Nov. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- McGruff the Crime Dog(R), the 25-year old icon of the National Crime Prevention Council (NCPC), celebrated his anniversary earlier this month with a survey of law enforcement and crime prevention specialists to determine their priorities for the next ten years.

With the help of corporate partner ADT Security Services, Inc., NCPC surveyed attendees at the 7th Annual Conference on Preventing Crime and the results revealed that local law enforcement ranks home security and homeland security with equal importance -- a potent reminder that McGruff's very first public service message about taking precautions for home security is as relevant today as it was 25 years ago.
